ORDER IRS ACCOUNT TRANSCRIPT AND A COPY OF STATE TAX RETURN
IRS ACCOUNT TRANSCRIPT INSTRUCTIONS:
To get transcript by mail, open following link;
https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof-tra/start.do
Click “OK” first, then enter your SSN, DOB, street address (no apartment number) and ZIP or Postal Code as appeared on your tax return. Click “Continue”
NOTE: If you get an error, check all the information one more time and repeat the process. If it doesn’t work twice, just stop and don’t try third time. Try it after 24 hours. If it doesn’t work again, then follow instructions on error message page.
Select Account Transcript (not Tax Transcript), tax year 2016 and click “Continue”
Click “Exit” to complete your Account Transcript request process
NOTE: If you are not able to submit a copy of account transcript online, then you will have to call IRS number 800-908-9946 and complete your request on your phone.
If you are not able to complete phone request, then you will have to stop by at local IRS office and collect a copy of your Account Transcript.
ORDER A COPY OF MICHIGAN STATE TAX RETURNIRS:
Open following link;
https://treas-secure.treas.state.mi.us/eservice_enu/start.swe?SWECmd=Start&SWEHo=treas-secure.treas.state.mi.us
Enter your social security number (no spaces, no dashes), last name, and click “Log In”
Click on “Ask Treasury A Question”
Select “2016”, enter Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) as per your US tax return, select your filing status as per your US tax return and click “Submit”
Enter your email address, Select “Copy of Return” and Enter copy and paste following note
Please send me a certified copy of my 2016 tax return assessment including refund amount. Canada Revenue Agency asked this info for my foreign tax credit verification.
And click “Submit” to complete your request.
NOTE: You don’t need to request a copy of Detroit city tax return. It will come with Michigan state tax return. But copies for other cities tax returns, you will have to contact those cities separately.
NOTE: If you don’t enter your information three times correctly, you will get following message.
